To fête the launch of Fendi’s shiny new Harrods space, artist John Booth will doodle live on limited-edition accessories
English artist John Booth was a natural shoe-in for a Fendi collaboration. His graphic, experimental sketches complement the brand’s unabashed use of colour, and have translated into cult accessories under the watchful eye of Silvia Venturini Fendi (the woman behind the Baguette bag). Who better to kick off colourful proceedings in the brand’s renovated Harrods space than the painter himself?
In preparation for the launch on 30th March, Booth has been busy transforming the windows on Basil Street with the striking primary hued canvases he has created for the fashion house. Today he will take his materials and set up shop in the boutique, personalising unique Fendi products for customers.
A handful of illustrations can be painted onto t-shirts, keyrings and pochettes (give Booth free reign with the colour palette for a one-off piece, we say). Those short of time can snap up a limited edition black rucksack, striped shopper or tan pochette with the distinctive face illustration that he created for Fendi’s SS17 menswear collection. And if you want to show your allegiance to the shopping behemoth, t-shirts in Harrods’ ubiquitous green shade are also available to purchase.
The Scotsman, who studied at Central Saint Martins, and has lent his punchy textiles to Zandra Rhodes, John Galliano, Ashish and Christopher Shannon, and is also rather charming to talk to… fendi.com
